Malcolm has always been "modelling" for me and is quite used to being photographed, so we (him included) didn't hesitate when we got the chance to sign him up at with a model agency. He was willing to try it and thought it sounded like a lot of fun, even if we tried to explain that it probably would be hard work. So.. how do you explain the whole thing about being a model for a seven year old, without getting it all wrong..? We've said that for the clothing brands to display their clothes, they need children or adults who likes being photographed, to wear their clothes. And sometimes they need someone who is tall or someone who is short and sometimes someone with light hair or someone who has curly hair, etc. And luckily this was just the way it was at his first job, for American J.Crew. The children all originated from different parts of the world, in all shapes and colors. So cool!! And so much fun, for both Malcolm and me. The other children were American or Spanish, so it was great language practice for Malcolm as well. It was a pretty big production with a big crew and therefore a lot of waiting time.. Which the kids handled really well, they played uno, football and "joined worlds" on the iPad. I think I was just walking around smiling, I absolutely love being in this kind of creative context. Makeup, hair stylists, props, photographers, assistants, everything for the picture! The first day they shot in Valldemossa, which is quite high above sea level and was therefore a whole lot colder than Palma, but the kids did a real good job dispite the cold. Day two was in Deia, first up in the village (also cold because the sun didn't come over the mountains..) and in the afternoon down in Cala Deia to shoot swimwear. When Malcolm's pictures were all done he did not want to leave, we interpret that as he liked it!
